Frequently Asked Questions:

How many tickets should I buy? How many people can I bring in my car?

Our Drive-In tickets are per carload. One car = one ticket. The maximum number of guests allowed per vehicle is equal to the number of permanent seat belts in the vehicle. We recommend that guests traveling in the same vehicle should be from the same family unit or those who have been socially distancing in the same household.

Can I reserve tickets “at the door”?

If there are spaces still available on the night of the showing, we will allow cars in without a reservation. However, space is limited, and we strongly recommend reserving your ticket online in advance.

Where is the screening? How do I get there?

This unique new entertainment experience will elevate the concept of the drive-in cinema to an entirely new level – specifically, the top level of the Hanover Street Student Parking Deck, just opposite the Wilson Center. The GPS address for the parking deck is 200 Hanover St, Wilmington, NC 28401. When you enter, you will follow the directional signage all the way to the top level.

What type of vehicle should I bring?

We recommend attending the event in a standard 2-door or 4-door vehicle. Convertibles and pickup trucks are permitted. No oversized vehicles or vehicles that obstruct views will be allowed into the venue, including but not limited to: motorcycles, golf carts, high capacity vans, buses, or RVs. No vehicle taller than 8ft will be able to enter. All attendees must be in the vehicle at point of entry. No Uber, Lyfts, or Taxis will be permitted to drop guests off. Attendees must remain in their vehicles for the duration of the event. The only exception is to use the restroom located in the Wilma W. Daniels Gallery on the 2nd level (ground level with 3rd St).

Will there be restrooms on the premise?

Yes, bathrooms are located in the Wilma W. Daniels Gallery on the 2nd Level of the deck (ground level with 3rd St). Take any stairwell/elevator to level 2 and locate the gallery on the Wilson Center side of the deck. In accordance with the State of North Carolina’s mandate, we require that all guests wear a mask or facial covering when interacting with staff and exiting your vehicle to use the restroom. Please maintain recommended physical distancing (6 feet or more) from those outside of your party at all times. There will be markings on the ground to guide you when waiting in line at the restroom.

What time should I arrive?

The parking deck will open one hour prior to showtime at 7pm. Vehicles will not be permitted to enter after the film begins at 8pm. Refunds will not be provided.

What food/beverage options are available?

Concessions will not be available for purchase on the night of the event, but we don’t mind if you bring snacks or popcorn on your own. Just be sure to dispose of it in the designated receptacles, and remember that no alcohol is allowed.

What health precautions will the venue staff be taking? Will I be required to wear a mask?

Please reference the Wilson Center’s  Guidelines for Returning to the Center  for the most up-to-date health and safety information and recommendations. In accordance with the State of North Carolina’s mandate, we require that all guests wear a mask or facial covering when interacting with staff and exiting their vehicle to use the restroom. Please maintain recommended physical distancing (6 feet or more) from those outside of your party at all times

What happens if it rains or there is other inclement weather?

This is a rain or shine event. In the event of inclement weather (i.e. lightning, intense wind, tornado, hurricane), we will notify ticket buyers via email, phone, and social media of any event changes.

Will I be able to sit outside my car?

Under the mass gathering guidelines set forth by the State of North Carolina, guests will not be permitted to sit outside of their vehicle. You must remain in your vehicle at all times, except to use the restroom. Guests are, however, permitted to have the top down on convertibles and jeeps, as well as sit in the bed of their trucks. You may also “back in” to your space and sit in the trunk of your car. In accordance with the State of North Carolina’s mandate, we require that all guests wear a mask or facial covering when interacting with staff and exiting your vehicle to use the restroom. Please maintain recommended physical distancing (6 feet or more) from those outside of your party at all times.

Where do I park?

The beauty of a drive-in is that your parking and your seat are in the same place! Vehicle placement will be at the discretion of management, and in compliance with local and state health guidelines. Please follow the instructions from our staff and volunteers on site. If you would like to “back in” to your space, just let us know! Please note that larger vehicles will be placed in the back to maximize viewing for all guests.

How will I hear the movie?

There will be amplified sound and sound will come through FM radio transmission. In order to enjoy the movie experience, it is recommended that ticket purchasers arrive in a vehicle equipped with a functioning, tunable, FM receiver (typically in your vehicle radio). The FM station will be provided at the event prior to showtime. Please note that if you would like to turn your vehicle off during the movie, you may want to bring a portable radio.

Anything else I should know before attending the event?

For the best viewing experience for all in attendance, we request that exterior lights be turned off and any interior lights be either off or on their dimmest setting. If you would like to turn your vehicle off during the movie, you may want to bring a portable radio. Video & audio recording of any film is not allowed.
